Contingent worker
This refers to a group of workers who work for any organization on non-permanents
bases. They are very skilled in their fields and choose to work on a contractual basis rather than
being tied permanently to one organization (Polivka, 9).
Implications for the employers
Third party management, the organization benefits from the worker as a new skill is
invented in the organization. The contingent worker in most cases they are not biased as they are
in the firm for a short period and therefore in the instance where they are doing a review of the
worker's performance they tend to provide valid information that is not manipulated. The
employer pays less for this service as the worker in most cases is allocated to that firm be an
agency that handles payrolls and benefits administration. Increased efficiency, the workers are
more skilled in their fields. However, this type of a worker has some disadvantages workforce
insufficient and legal implications, and this is the case where the firm what to exploit the
contingent workers talent while the law does not allow such this could call for some legal
prosecution of the firm (Pearce,36).
The worker enjoys flexibility. The schedule could be very tight, but the worker will
always be flexible, as they are not tied to a single firm. This gives them the change to explore
and experience different organization cultures at the end of every contract. They hence learn to
allot and become more effective in their professional field. Recruiting opportunity, in the case of
a gap the contingent worker could be considered. However, the work has some faults in that lack
of work. At some point, the work could be in need of income yet the work does not materialize
(Pearce,39).
