History, Mission, and Goals
Light for African Children program is an advocacy group for the promotion of
technology in the rural schools of Africa that was founded on January 1, 2016. The goals of the
organization since inception a year ago is to assist Easter African nations to attain the sustainable
development goals of education including those related to use of technology, school enrollment
and completion rates, and quality of education. Its mission is to spread educational opportunities
to all African children through the promotion of technology-driven lifelong learning programs
and integration of contemporary evidence-based instruction delivery approaches into the
educational systems of these countries.
Current Activities, Recent Accomplishment, and Future Plans
The organization organized the lighting initiative eight months ago as a pilot project in
Eastern Africa that is designed to provide rechargeable solar technology to schools in rural parts
of the region. Its bottom line is to ensure students in remote areas of Africa have access to
standard and quality learning in a bid to attaining international education standards. While
funding has been a major impediment to the sustenance and distribution of the benefits of the
program several parts within the period, the company successfully executed the project for two
schools in Northern Uganda and the Rift Valley region of Kenya. This success has inspired Light
for African Children to pursue our plan of supporting over 10,000 schools in Africa in the next
five years. We believe that this ambitious plan is achievable with financial support provided by
your organization and others interested in improving the quality of education in Africa.
