Running Head: EFFECTS OF IMMAGRATION ON CHILDREN 1
Effects of Immigration on Children
Immigration is the movement of people from one country to another in which they are not
native, this has brought heavy shortcomings to their children by making it hard for them to adapt
to the new environment. Some of the problems are; adjustment of schools is one of the main
negative impacts since the learning curriculum varies from one country to another, physical
changes in the general weather, for example, the cold weather in the US, there is also cultural
conflicts in the classroom due to different races, ethnicity, culture, and languages Cervantes, &
Matthews, (2018). Some of the best solutions to these problems are solved by doing thorough
research about the schools’ system of a country before immigrating, in terms of adapting to the
weather dressing warmly in the cold environment is highly commendable and finally, cultural
conflict can be avoided by establishing a common culture in a country that favors every race and
ethnic community. One of the similarities is racism, this brings stereotypes and hatred amongst the
students which may lead to illness such as depression (Lahiri)
The second generation in the U.S is going through some negative impacts due to
immigration. Some of the immigrants who are over twenty-four years and above have no formal
education that goes beyond high school, unlike the naturalized citizens (Njie-Carr, V. P (2019)
Parents of these generations can motivate their children by encouraging them to work on their
talents, and also allow them to meet with other people who are their friends to learn more about
how to interacts and adapt to the new environment. Teachers in the school should also educate
students on how to socialize with each other to avoid issues of racism and ethnicity amongst the
students.
