It is a broad phrase that includes persons of various genders and sexual orientations, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transitioning, questioning, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual, and allies. Meaning of LGB • lesbian - phrase for women who are sexually and warmly attracted to other women • gay - homosexuals or those attracted to people of the same gender. bisexual - those who are sexually and romantically attracted to both men and women The T Defined • trans - a word that encompasses transgender, gender nonconforming, and non-binary people • transsexual - can refer to a person who is changing from one sex to another through surgery or medical therapies. This phrase, however, has fallen out of favor for trans or transgender people. • transgender - a person who lives as a gender other than the one given to them on their birth certificate What Does QIA Mean • questioning - hen a person is experimenting with their sexuality, gender identity, or gender expression • queer - this term can have several meanings, however it can be interpreted as an inclusive term or as a distinct celebration of not conforming to society conventions. • intersex - this term can refer to those who do not fit into specified gender stereotypes of woman or man; it can also refer to those who have reproductive anatomy that is not conventional. • asexual - use for persons ...
