Health and Wellness
Part I.
I chose to take some time out and go out to enjoy nature.
I went out of our house and took a walk slowly all along maintaining the same pace and being
conscious about my breathing pattern to keep it slow and rhythmical so that I continue in a
calm state. While walking, I paid more attention to the organic environment, objects such as
trees, birds, the soil and even the sky and I didn’t focus on vehicles and other human-made
structures in the compound. I then sat down on a stone next to a neighbor’s flower garden and
observed the colors of the flowers at close point. The yellows flowers were so colorful and
were so detailed when I came close to them. I could see the different shades of yellow as the
flowers matured by comparing one yellow flower to another. Some flowers had a tinge of
pink as well. In one flower, there was a red ladybird lodged between the petals. As soon as I
touched the flower, it flew away. I grabbed the soil and felt the moisture in it. I thought to
myself; this is what makes plants grow and smiled. I smelt the flowers and got a sharp,
distinct smell that felt very similar to a cough syrup that I used to take during the cold season
which made me laugh. I spent some more time outside and then went back home.
At home, I felt happy for the time out in the sun; enjoying nature. It felt amazing. I loved how
I was able to see things which I didn’t see every day. I thought that I should do it more often.
I know it seems difficult to move out of the house and get some fresh air because I am used to
the comfort of being at home watching TV and spending time with my brothers, but I
promised myself to do it again the coming week. One more time.
