Marriott International is a chain of leading hotels based in Washington D.C. The
company has also got the position in Forbes Best Companies and got the fourth position by The
Times in 2009. It started in the 1950s with two motels, in Washington D.C., and Near Twin
Bridges. Marriot offers luxurious rooms and suites with other facilities like gym, spa, leisure
travelers, etc. The organization provides a sense of belongingness. The employees work there as
a family, to provide the guest a feel for the home. (“Marriott International”, n.d.)
Various programs are being offered by Marriott to make it a better place to work for.
Firstly, Marriott provides “home away from home” environment. They believe that their people
are the most important assets. This includes all the internal stakeholders like employees,
management, customers, etc. Therefore, each and everyone should be provided authority for the
betterment of the organization. This will give the sense of dignity and pride, and the associates’
works to deliver the exceptional guest experience. (Hinkin, T. R., & Tracey, J. B., 2010)
Secondly, Marriott hire people from diverse culture making it suitable for everyone to
work under one roof. This opens the opportunity to work with almost all the cultures of the
world. Next, Marriott provides discounts for their associates` and their family and friends.
Additionally, discounts are also provided on food and beverage, and gift shops at Marriott hotels
throughout the world. The other benefits being provided are medical insurance including life,
disability, and dental benefits. The organization also sponsors the wellness educational programs
and events for the betterment of the future health of their employees.
