Motorola
Profile
Motorola, Inc. was once a leading company in cellular infrastructure, mobile devices
and wireless communication. It was the first company ever to develop two-way radios for both
military, police and fire departments. However, its leadership in the industry did not continue as
it failed to maintain the rapid pace of technological advancement. In essence, organization
management was the primary backdrop of Motorola Company (Fishman, 2014). It lacked a
constant and consistent flow of directives as it kept on changing its staff members. As a result, its
business lacked a consistent strategy to keep the company at its best advantage when the industry
was experiencing technological advancement.
The constant changing of the organization's workforce made the company lack a
sustainable organizational culture that could easily follow up with the current market demands.
Moreover, the organization had poor communication and interaction channel between the senior
executives' members and the workforce. This kept employees in the dark since they did not have
specific directives or objectives that they had to accomplish to achieve the overall organizational
goal.
In essence, the management failed to manage or effectively allocate its resources where
it was urgently needed due to an emotional disconnection between the top executive members
(Fishman, 2014). It focuses more of its time and resources on dealing with the conflict of interest
among the executives. Also, due to the emotional disconnection among the top executive
members, they could not agree on common ground regarding affecting the company. At the time,
its major competitors, like Blackberry, were focusing on producing digital and innovative
products with distinct features, thereby grabbing the market share and leaving Motorola behind.
