Gender Stereotype
Stereotypes are organized beliefs sets regarding traits of every member of a specific
group. One can define the gender stereotype as a belief set regarding what it meant to be a male
or female. Gender stereotypes comprise information concerning social relations, occupations,
psychological traits, attitudes, interests, and physical appearance. These numerous dimensions,
most important, are interrelated (Worell, 2001).
Traditionally, once can stereotype women as more interpersonally capable and socially
sensitive as compared to men (Rudman, & Glick, 2012). The traditional stereotype of women
comprises attributes, for example, being less effective and less competent in outside home
activities, compassionate, nurturing, tactful, subjective, emotional, subservient, weak, aware of
feelings of other, and having easily hurt feelings. Stereotypes related to men, on the other hand,
included typically traits, for example, competitive, objective, independent, aggressive, dominant,
and leaders. In nearly all facets of everyday life, these gender stereotypes extend for both women
and men.
In our daily life, there is one common misconception regarding women that they wear
makeup with the intention of attracting men. If we consider this true, it will make a scenario that
every morning, women wake up and think what they should use from their makeup accessories
to attract men. In real life, this does not seem possible as no woman has enough time or money
that she can use for attracting men. Makeup is a personal thing that woman use. They use it only
for themselves, but not for attracting any other person. It is used only to look beautiful, not for
how one wants other people to look at her.
