Earned Value Analysis
Earned value analysis (EVA) is a standardized way of gauging the progress of a
particular project at any given time by looking at the respective parameters that influence its
development (Cullen). These parameters (which include completion date and budget) are closely
monitored as the project goes through the different phases. The EVA performs a comparison of
the actual plan to the work already done, costs incurred and the time taken to accomplish it. The
completion of every task/work is thus said to be “earned”. In other words, it is a performance-
based method of ensuring that a project is successfully achieved.
