Rationale for Research Proposal
Strategic thinking refers to the comprehensive process that defines the manner in
which people have personal perceptions, create future life strategies and general way of
thinking (Lowell & Jay, 1997). Strategic thinking is the most valuable tool that helps business
organizations to be in the right position to make decisions without incurring huge costs.
Strategic thinking forms standard cornerstone for creating and executing business strategies
that are essential in attaining a unique competitive advantage in the industry. In order to
influence organizational decision making process, the following strategic thinking
requirements are very paramount for employees: making logical decisions, development of
focused business vision, clearly defined business objectives, designing flexible plans, being
committed to professional duties, effective time management and generally being creative
(Lowell & Jay, 1997). Research has shown that smart decisions are a result of strategic
thinking within business organizations. Lack of effective strategic thinking techniques have
adverse effects for decision making within organizations.
On the other hand, problem solving influences organizations in a positive or negative
manner. It entails individual capacity to handle conflicting issues which happen within
business organizations (Blauth & Marone, 2004). Effective decision making process require
indomitable problem solving skills for dealing with both internal and external problems that
emanate within business organizations. Generally, problem solving and decision making are
very important for success of business organizations. This is justified by the fact that
streamlined decision making are juicy requirements for business management and leadership
