PARADOX.
Introduction
Many times people tend to say something that is contradicting on what the other person knows
but it is true. The use of paradox leaves a lot of individuals trying to understand what the other
person meant since the statement always sound correct but it is self-contradicting and logically

The paradox can be defined as a statement that sounds silly or contradictory but has some truth

the reader to be able to understand the statement fully, he or she needs to rethink over and over.
The statement usually has two things that are opposite of each other that may be true. We can say
that statements that seem to say different things and yet right are the paradox.(Rappaport, p.20)
There are various sentences, proverbs and saying that are examples of paradox. Examples
of paradox in sentences or statements include: 1.One thing that i know is that i know nothing. 2.

others” in George Orwell’s Animal Farm and “I must be cruel to be kind” in the famous play of
Shakespeare.(Marton, Ference, Gloria &Lai, p.72)
Conclusion
As many people think of paradox to be provoking, they are also considered to be fun. The
paradox in poems tends to create feelings and interests in readers’ minds and make them think
deeper to enjoy the real message of the poem. It is good to encourage people to use paradox to
create fun and interest among readers and listeners.
