WORKPLACE DIVERSITY 2
Introduction
The workplace diversity is a term used to refer to the variances between employees and
other stakeholders in an organization. Workplace diversity is a general term encompassing the
differences in age, race, education, gender, tenure, ethnic group, cognitive styles, personalities
and age among many others. Diversity is not only concerned about how individuals identify
themselves, but it also includes perceiving different people in the organization (Fassinger, 2008).
The interactions in the group are highly influenced by those differences in perceptions. For a
variety of workforces to work efficiently as an organization, the human resource management of
the particular company should deal successfully with matters affecting diversity like change,
communication, and difficulties in adaptability (Fassinger, 2008).
Diverse organization is an integral part of organizational success. Integrating different
aspect of employees including difference religion, race, ages and cultures in an organization is a
crucial aspect since it allows organizational employees to enjoy mutual relationships. In this time
of globalization in the economy and other sectors of livelihood, numerous businesses have
determinations to realize workforce diversity that has the objective of employing staff from
diverse experiences to deliver both intangible and tangible paybacks to the business (Green et al.,
2002).
Greater understanding of the importance of the workforce diversity benefits the
organization through establishing a business that is competitive. This includes engaging
employees who have different languages and cultures that can make the business to have a
deeper reach in their industry (Pringle, 2009). The implementation of the diversity policies and
approaches makes an organization to be more appealing to their workers, customers, suppliers,
and vendors. Workplace diversity comes with both potential conflicts and benefits.
