Culture and History  Shoin design was implemented during the     Muromachi period The Japanese culture involved the use of the poles and square pegs to construct houses Shoin is a term that means drawing or study room. Blending of the shoin design and the teahouse styles commenced during the Edo period. The blending resulted in the formation of the informal version called sukiya-zukuri.
