In your opinion, which of the two theories bests explains how political power works in the
United States, and why?
In order to understand power in the United States as well as other democracies, pluralist and elite
have much more to offer, however, none of the theories present a complete picture. Pluralist
depends on the view that political power in majority rules systems is scattered crosswise over
different veto bunches that contend similarly for assets and impact On the other hand, Elite
theories have the perspective that influence has been amassed in the hands of couple of well off
people and associations that apply exorbitant impact on the administration and shapes its choices
with a specific end goal to profit their own particular advantages. The theory goes further to
clarify that the legislature is controlled by monetary elites separated from being a nonpartisan ref
over the opposition (Montopoli, 2010).

are disbursed among various groups. This primarily means there are a “polyarchy” and not a
hierarchy. Primarily, it discusses that different groups have power on different issues. Moreover,
pluralism is based on the facts of a free market economy. In most of the cases, politicians
compete in order to get voter support in the electoral arena in the same way capitalists compete

always fair between these groups (Simon, 2008).
