Features of Jainism
The ontological perception of Jainism focuses on existence and life itself rather than the
perceptions of creation and that there exists a supernatural being that did the creation. They do
not bother themselves with the existence of God but rather the fact that there is life and people
are alive. There are those who were against the dogmatism of the Vedas and Jaids took this to
their advantage by forming a theory of reality and philosophies approach. They do not deny the
reality of the world’s existence, they took a middle stand saying that the world exists because of
two coexisting substances, that is the conscious and the unconscious. They believe that the
existence of God does not represent all the economic downturns and the difficulties of life but
rather a bond that one feels from the heart (Besant, Annie 2010).
Most people say that Jainism is a representation of pessimism that these are claims that
they seriously deny. They consider themselves great because they are connected with something
greater than the world, this is not a way of trying to escape realities of life, and they deal with all
difficulties clinging to the hope that they are superior because of their connections to a superior
being.

The relationship between spirituality and religion
Religion is defines as the belief in a God or gods that are worshipped and is often an act
of rituals while spirituality is defined as the fact of not being physical. Religion focuses on
rituals, beliefs and what people do while spirituality has its focus on supernatural things and
spiritual rather than earthly actions.
The two are determinants of high values of life and they correspond to each other. For
one to have a relationship with God they need a religion and spirituality, the God they worship
might not manifest themselves physically and this can be interpreted by many through
spirituality. Another thing is that spirituality manifest itself as a religion, people belong to a
certain religion because of what they believe from their inside (Guseva 2016).
Religion has certain rules imposed on people from leaders, subscribing to a certain
religion means avoid the don’ts and adhering to the dos. This is the basic definition of religion
because it guides people towards the specific ways of the religion whereas spirituality has no
limits; it depends of the individual person to believe what they want to believe and to connect
with their gods in any way that they might want to.
