Government policies affecting healthcare costs
The wellbeing of a country’s’ citizens is crucial. As such, governments should be
committed to ensuring that there is proper healthcare. The governments organize, finance, and
oversee the entire health care system. In some instances, the governments are tasked with
delivering the health care themselves. The governments are primarily concerned with healthcare
providers to the less fortunate (Lavis, et.al, 2002). This is a group if not well-taken care of might
succumb to their illnesses. This group of persons includes. The elderly, disabled and the poor
who cannot afford to cater for their own medication. The government’s role is just not limited to
the mentioned activities.
Governments worldwide are investing heavily into research programs. New health
frontiers have been advanced relentlessly. Better healthcare programs have been put in place to
replace old ones. Point in case being the repeal of Obama care. The trump administration is
putting forth a better healthcare plan for its citizens. In this new plan, American citizen will be
grouped based on their class level. The plan has a better face value as compared to Obama care.
This is because the country has a relatively higher number of middle-class citizens as compared
to the lower cadre group. Moreover, the plan is not based on a universal coverage the number of
people who will miss the insurance coverage will rise over time. The governments are also
tasked with regulating the private sector too (Steele, Dewa, Lin & Lee, 2016).
The private sector is one area that must constantly be checked. There are many genuine
private sector health providers. This withstanding we cannot rule out the possibility of
unscrupulous businesspersons. These rogue health providers are out there to make a profit. This a
problem affecting the developing world in this side of the divide, governments have a diminished
