CASE STUDY 2
Sexual revolution is a movement to challenge traditional codes of behavior related to
sexuality and the interpersonal relations. Counter- revolution is a movement to opposing a
certain social system set by a previous revolution. I do believe that sexual revolution and counter
revolution has greatly influenced the events taking place in this class because traditionally no one
would discuss sexual matters with children especially in mixed class of boys and girls because
this was referred to as a taboo. Mrs Gabbert reluctantly teaches these kids about the use of
condoms and birth control at their age and also on matters concerning abortion and also teen
pregnancies (Freud, 2012).
In this given class I believe the girls are more concerned about teen pregnancy and
abortion because at their age they believe this topic is what greatly affects them. They think that
boys do not get pregnant so it doesn’t affect them at all (Freud, 2012).
The boys think condoms and birth control are funny subjects since according to them
whether they use or not use a condom, does not bother them, they always are on the safe side.
Pornography, prostitution and pre-marital sex subjects have greatly affected the adolescents since
they are so curious in whatever they see or hear and they mostly end up trying whatever they
have seen or heard. Adolescents tent to be so daring and end up doing almost everything warned
not to do (Nagera, 2014).
According to the three theoretical analyses of sexuality, which are the sexual aberrations,
infantile sexuality and the transformations of puberty, I think that this information from the
textbook refers mostly on the transformations of puberty. The children are likely to believe in
this theory of the transformation if puberty since they are undergoing the same stage of puberty.
This is likely to be the most interesting to them (Nagera, 2014).
