It would be challenging to come with an objective understanding of what or who
constitutes a good leader. The implication is that leadership is largely contextualized, and it is the
ability of the person who holds the position to live to the expectations that come with such a
disposition. Perhaps this could explain why despite President Putin being abhorred in America,
he has been voted as one of the most influential people globally. It is the paradox about
leadership that it is the ability to resonate with the followers that look up to the leader. For
instance, there are some people that Martin Luther King Jr. was an inciter or activist, depending
on the side each was supporting in terms of racism that was taking place in the USA. The
implication is that the leader is mainly, if not solely responsible and accountable to their
followers.
There is also the observation that leadership can be attained through various parameters
that one can acquire or even assume. It has often been cited that the former US President, Barack
Obama had a charisma that could make people view him as a leader, and thus follow in his
tendencies. There are others who have power as a result of expertise, information that they
possess, ascribed status due to family ties or traditions among other aspects. The source of
leadership is one that should be mainly seen as the ability of the leader to maintain relevance
with the audience. It brings to focus the aspect of communication, which is done to pass
information from one person to another, and hold the group that a leader leads together.
The essence of communication in leadership is one that should be seen mainly in the
roles that it plays to the leader. It has often been said there is always the unspoken in the spoken,
and the spoken in the unspoken. What this means is that there should be a way in which a leader
ensures that communication serves all the issues that the followers have in choosing to have the
