Brooklyn Bridge
One of the architectural works that I have selected is Brooklyn Bridge. It is an iconic
bridge connecting Broobrookln Height and Lower Manhattan. It is popular for its stone arches
which have shared pedestrian and bicycle paths. It has six lanes for vehicles but does not
accommodate trucks. In a day, an average of 116, vehicles, 3000 cyclists and 30,000 pedestrian
passes through the Bridge each day (Brooklyn Bridge, n.d.). It is a suspension bridge with total
lending of 6,016 feet and has a clearance center at 135 feet.
One of the architectural concepts from the reading is shape. Shapes are pleasing to the
eye and it is through them that composition becomes straining and bold. Geometrical shapes
such as rectangles, triangles, and circles are all common in architectural structures. Shape
provides function, proper support, and aesthetics to the foundation of the structure.
Characteristics of work normally get foreseen through models. It is through models that
there is an indication of shapes thus making a bridge to integrate into the environment. Before
triangles started to be used in bridges, it was not possible to hold much weight. However, in
today’s constructions triangles helps in analyzing, building, and changing following the
