Aston Martin COBS Analysis
The famous British automobile manufacturer of grand tourers and luxury sports cars,
Aston Martin, was founded 108 years ago, which means it has been in the market for one
century. Aston Martin is popularly known for producing luxurious vehicles which are
expensive and unique. Like any other car manufacturing company, there have been
challenges and, of course, success. In this context, I will be using the COBS tools: context,
outlook, benchmarking, and spin to do strategic performance analysis.
According to the BBC, Aston Martin experienced a significant loss in 2019, which led
to shares dropping by 16%, which was alarming. In 2018, Aston Martin listed its shares on
the London Stock Exchange to be priced at £19, which later dropped to £4.50 in 2020. The
share prices dropped because of loss and the bad news they experienced in 2019. When
shares drop, more people tend to buy the shares since they are affordable, and with time they
will rise due to inflation rates and high demand from customers.
Aston Martin is optimistic about its company's future. Funds shorting a company
stock are more likely to give a negative outlook about the firm( Chacar, 2019). The news may
be pessimistic about the stock price and Aston martins success, but that does not mean that it
will fall. The company's determination and zeal to produce more cars and access more dealers
will bring more favorable outcomes than negative ones.
In conclusion, Aston Martin is a promising company to invest in. One of the reasons
to invest in this car manufacturing company is because it went public(Initial public offering).
A company decides to be publicly owned to increase its capital; hence opportunities will be
created widely, and most investors prefer companies in the IPO. Even though Aston Martin
experienced a fall in 2019, in 2020, they promised a considerable profit, articulating that
stock stabilized.
