He became a footballer in America. After playing very well and managed to compile six hundred
and eighty-six yards on ninety eighty carries and ten touchdowns as a sophomore. The
combination of managing all America collections made Syracuse University to won the national
championship of the year. In 1961 Ernie Davis became the first black African-America footballer
to have won Heisman trophy from Syracuse University. In connection to this, it very important to
analyze the background of Ernie Davis as a footballer.
Davis was a player who managed to loop up eighty hundred and seventy-seven rushing
yards on an unresolved seven point eight patches per carry in 1960. In 1961 he was managed eight
hundred and twenty-three rushing yards making him to won the Heisman Trophy and was
recognized as the top player. He was then picked National Football League as the first athlete who
managed the “Three- Time All- America selections,” when he amassed six hundred and eighty-six
yards on ninety eighty carries and ten touchdowns (Wiggins, 2015). He was also the first black
African- America player to be selected overall in the National Football League draft ("Ernie Davis,
Football, 1959-61," n.d.) Later on because of his good performance and being recognized as a
miracle play he became one of the black pioneers who motivated an association that destroyed
obstacles off and on the playing ground on the bases of racism.
