Introduction
Acting uniformly and acting fairly are two different things whereby it is only one of them
which enable an individual to deal successfully with workplace diversity. Workplace diversity is
very important in every organization in acknowledging, accepting, understanding, and valuing
the existing differences among different employees. When workplace diversity is managed
successfully, there is increased productivity, creativity, new attitudes, and new solution towards
challenging problems (Brown 2016). Acting with uniformity and acting with fairness is
important in dealing with workplace diversity although it is only one of them which can
successfully achieve workplace diversity. It is thus important for an individual to assess the one
which is most suitable in achieving diversity with regards to the perspective of the individual.
Acting Fairly and Acting Uniformly
Acting fairly involves treating different people with justice and impartiality in order to
avoid any kind of discrimination or favoritism. In the workplace, acting fairly is important in
achieving workplace diversity since it involves treating people with equality and respecting the
differences which make their personality (Bond and Haynes 2014). This involves being sensitive
when dealing with others in order to foster a feeling of inclusion with people from different
backgrounds. Acting uniformly is also important in dealing with workplace diversity whereby it
involves treating different people in a similar manner (Brown 2016). This involves avoiding both
negative and positive stereotypes when dealing with different individuals without making any
assumption regarding the existing differences. In the workplace, it involves viewing the other
employees with an open mind and recognizing the diverse backgrounds and cultures of others.
