Developing Network for Smart Building Management
Explain the management of smart buildings
Any structure that is known to use the automated processes in order to control the
operations of a building is referred to as a smart building. The operations that occur in these
structures are usually controlled automatically. Dean and Kelley argues that some of the
operations that occur in the smart buildings include air conditioning, ventilation, heating, lighting
and many more (25). A smart building is also known to use microchips, sensors as well as
actuators. These are used to collect as well as manage data according to the services and
functions that the business is doing. As a result, the infrastructure becomes very useful to both
the operators, owners and facility managers as well since it improves on performance and
reliability.
The management of smart buildings is very organized. The smart buildings focus far
beyond the equipment that is used to build within the four walls. The building connects the
structure to all its functions by the aid of a very advanced technology in order to provide services
like connecting to the smart power grid as well as connecting people with efficient and good
services (Sinopoli,196). In addition to this, improve in technology helps in integrating the
individual building systems. As a result, a more comfortable and secure environment is created.
Some of the equipment found in smart buildings include chiller plants, fire alarms, and
pumps, heating devises, water meters, power meters and chiller plants. All these ought to have

control systems as well as sensors so that they can be closely monitored hence easy to detect any
anomalies. The buildings that are at the most advanced stage and have used the most effective
technology have elevators, escalators and shading systems (Dean and Kelley, 68).
Smart-Devices
According to Sinopoli, a smart device is an electronic instrument that is connected to
other networks or devices through various wireless tools like the Bluetooth (61). At some extent,
smart devices operate both autonomously and interactively. Smart devices include phablets,
smart bands, smart key chains as well as smartwatches. Smart devices can be used in different
environments like human centered environments, distributed computing environments as well as
the physical world environment. The smart devices support different range of properties as well
as factors hence they are very effective in terms of usability and efficiency.
IP CCTV
Internet protocol camera are digital video cameras that are used for surveillance purposes.
These cameras can send and receive any form of data through the internet or a computer
network. Most of the cameras that do this are webcams (Casini, 59). The IP cameras are also
known as the IP CCTV cameras, Network cameras, security cameras as well as web cameras.
Most of these cameras are now available as the multi-megapixel cameras. There are two types of
the IP CCTV cameras and they include the centralized and the decentralized cameras. The
centralized cameras must have a central network video recorder while the decentralized one does
not require the NVR.
The IP security cameras have a wide range of features. These features help one record the
video in the HD quality by adjusting to the change of light and focusing the camera remotely.
This makes them easy to adjust according to the surveillance needs (Sinopoli,73). The way the
