UK. Its convenience store network contributes 23% revenues of gross revenue.

On the other hand Tesco’s global business is expanding progressively and it will help
Tesco to gain a leading position in retail store within next five years.
Insurance
During the year 2003 Tesco highlighted its Insurance segment with more the one
million vehicle insurance policies, more than 335,000 pets’ insurance policies. On the
year 2009 Tesco has been graded as the fastest growing insurance company in UK
(Vehicle and pets). On the other hand Tesco has also been designated as the Most
Competitive life insurance provider” in Money Facts Awards 2003.
Tesco online
Tesco’s online business has expanded tremendously and has been graded as world
ranked no.1 online supermarkets with £ 580 million turnover with an increase of 30%
over previous year. Tesco’s online network covers 97% of the UK online market.
Brand value
Tesco’s profitability has increased by 78.5% during 2009 in Asian and European
markets. Tesco is known as a trustworthy brand in market and concentrating on
improving product quality in order to get more customer satisfaction.
Market Leadership
Tesco leading position in market can be analysed by its sales growth of 71% over one
of its competitor’s sales during the year 2009. Tesco achieve this milestone by

Dependence upon the UK market
Despite of the fact that Tesco’s business is growing globally; its reliance on local
market cannot be ignored which contributes approximately 79% of its total revenue.
This indicates quite alarming for Tesco as Morison has already acquired Safeway group
which may have an effect on its market share.
