AFFORDABLE CARE ACT 2
The affordable care act is a significant patient-centered medical cover that aims at reducing
the cost of care within the United States. The affordable care act has various provisions which
outline the quality of care and how effectively it would be significant to ensure that all the United
States are protected from the increasing healthcare costs. The new provisions that have been
considered include the Medicaid paid reforms and health insurance exchanges. The health
insurance exchanges imply that is an individual does not have cover through employer or
government, they can purchase cover through the state exchange or federal exchange. The
Medicaid paid reforms to suggest that payments will not be based on fee for service, but it will be
bundled in a manner that past health conditions of an individual will be considered (Shaw et.al,
2014).
The affordable care act has a significant emphasis on the quality of care, and thus the
overall implementation of the affordable care act focuses on improving the quality of healthcare.
The affordable care act authorizes the creation of health insurance marketplaces, which are aimed
at helping individuals, and small employers select and enroll in high quality but affordable private
health plans. The act also requires that the United States department of health and human services
to develop quality data collection and put in place quality certification standards to ensure that the
quality of health care is not compromised. Therefore, the focus is to develop better healthcare
while ensuring that it remains affordable (Blumenthal and Collins, 2014).
