Obama’s presidency reign was characterized by efforts to reinvent the foreign policy.
Obama sought to foster good relations with all nations. This would ensure that America coexists
will each and every nation. The existing war between America and nations like Pakistan and
Afghanistan would come to an end. This journey of establishing America as a champion of
peace in the world started when Obama was elected for the first term and would continue in the
second term. This change was so as to secure the super power (Cox, Michael, Timothy, and
Nicolas, Pg 27).
The second inaugural speech made a cross reference to the America’s foreign policy.
President Obama elucidated that America would review the institutions that seek to coordinate
with other countries. America being a superpower has a moral duty to help the other countries
when they are affected by certain predicaments. The country is an economic giant should extend
support and help to nations that have been dilapidated by poverty (Indyk, Martin, Kenneth, and
Michael, Pg 244). Also, the country should help those affected by disease epidemics. This would
go a long way in making the benefactors hopeful about life again.
The statement also meant that the country would extend help to the establishment and
growth of democracies. This is because the country has matured its democracy by cultivating it

civil wars. The country is willing to extend personnel and funds in order to help these countries
transition from dictatorship to democracies. Thus by America doing this, it would eliminate the
threat of terrorism. This is because the war in the countries like Iraq has made its inhabitants
polarized to terrorist groups.
America is also under the mandate to take part in helping other countries because of the
principles that it holds. America wants to promote human dignity and fairness for all. The speech
emphasized that the America cannot progress alone and therefore it requires other nations. The
country would coordinate with other nations in order to eliminate threats such as terrorism
Dennys, Christian, Par 8). This is because terrorism has led to mistrust among the nations. Thus
the country would ensure peaceful coexistence among countries in the world.
In conclusion, the inaugural statement in the inaugural speech focused on the purpose of
America’s foreign policy. The Obama’s presidency sought to foster peace in the world. This is
because America is a super power and has a moral obligation towards other nations. By the
country helping other countries the world would be a safe haven.
