Apologetics according to “Apologetics at the cross,” by Chatraw and Allen, can be best
described as “the practice of offering an appeal and defense for the Christian faith.” Not having
official submersion in the field of apologetics creates an exciting and intriguing opportunity to
develop an understanding in regard to defending the faith. As mentioned in modular one, doubt
naturally manifests in the human brain. That being said, doubt will lead unbelievers and
unexposed individuals to question that form unfruitful ideas and lifestyles. John Stackhouse,
author of Humble apologetics, explains, in this time of rapidly increasing awareness of religious
differences around the world, we need to consider carefully how members of one faith can
properly offer what they take to be the blessings of that faith to others.” As a missionary, I
believe stepping into this course will allow me to walk in full understanding as to how I can
better reach the youth of America, not just with my comfort in the Christian faith, but with
revelation of the heart and person of Jesus. John 3:16 is the most well-known and well-rehearsed
verses of scripture. I believe that as this verse begins with “For God…” those two simple words
are a clear indication that God even exists. I believe that can be one scripture of hundreds I am
unaware about in regard to apologetics. Chatraw and Allen provide us with 1 Peter 3:5 as a
supporting verse and proof text of apologetics. As Christians, walking in the authority of
scripture, we have to know how to support our believes and rebuke doubt and I believe this
course will be transformative for my faith being that I have no exposure to apologetics.
