Authors’ Claims
The author wanted to find out whether the development of an infant had any impact to
various factors such as the mental health of the parent, the relationship exciting between the
parents and the infant as well as the characteristics of the infant. Various researches over the
years show that the relationship between the mother and infant affects the language development
while the father and infant relationship affects the motor development of an infant. While
maternal postnatal traumatic stress in a parent negatively affects the cognitive development of a
child. Emphasis is made on the parents’ perception towards the infant as that is learnt to greatly
affect the characteristics of an infant. Therefore, negative internal parental perceptions are highly
observed to avoid negative child outcome.
Influence of factors on infant development
The author was interested to learn more about the internal and external variables that

development of the infant in one way or the other that ensured effective environment for the

health and language development of a child. The mental stability during pregnancy is very vital
for the child’s later outcome. Both the early and later characteristics of a child are affected by the
mental stability of a parent not forgetting a parent’s perception towards the child character also
affects the outcome. The relationship between the parent and infant directly affects the child’s
growth; further research also shows that a father’s positive involvement towards a child reduces
the cognitive delays in a child. Infant development is also affected quite directly by the
relationship that excites between the parents. Infant development in recent research conquers that
poor mental stability affects the child’s development negatively, the relationship between parent
and infant as well as the infant characteristics are directly associated with development. The
parent infant relationship can also be looked at as a mediator between mental state of a parent, as
well as the couple’s relationship, the outcome of infant temperament and infant development as a
whole.
