Personal Description Essay
I have many reasons behind my desire to become a nurse. First, it is a career that will
give me an opportunity to positively impact the lives of patients and the community as a
whole. As a nurse, one gets to help people through their most vulnerable moments, and that
would make me feel like I am living for an important purpose. As a nurse, I would not only
be a caretaker for my patients but also offer my friendship and advice to those in need of it.
Health issues are one of the most crucial aspects of human life and most time leave people
psychologically beaten especially in cases of chronic diseases. As a nurse, I would love to
help such people through the difficult times. Nurses are people trusted and loved by the
community. Patients willingly place their lives in the hands of nurses, demonstrating an
ultimate act of trust. As a nurse, I would like to give more reasons for patients to continue
trusting nurses by doing my best in caring for them. This is because nursing is a profession
whose reputation should be protected because nurses play a very crucial role and it would
break the community if the nursing profession were corrupted. Nursing in America is one of
the most ethically-sound profession. Again, America is in need of more and more health
providers so as to improve healthcare services and I would love to be part of such a
milestone.
One of my greatest personal strength is dedication. When aiming at accomplishing
something I give my all to what I am doing. I am also a disciplined and self-driven person,
and I do not believe in doing my work well simply because am being supervised or in fear of
getting penalized or punished. I do my work out of the desire to accomplish my responsibility
in the society so as to make the world a better place. I also strongly believe in honesty as a
key virtue to building good relations with others as well as source personal inner peace. I am
therefore a trustworthy person always guided by the light of truth. I am also enthusiastic
about things I wish to accomplish and embrace my duties with self-motivation. Have always
