Purpose of the RM plan
The purpose of the risk management plan is to protect members of staff, patients, and
visitors from accidents and inadvertent injuries. The plan is equally devised to safeguard
the organization’s assets and other intangibles such as reputation and community standing
through the identification potential problems before occurrence so that the necessary risk
handling activities may be planned and executed as needed to mitigate adverse effects on
achieving the underlying objectives.
This plan is a necessary tool for the implementation of the organization’s complete risk
management program. In essence, it is drafted to offer structure and guidance for the
business and clinical services which facilitate quality patient care while promoting a
secure environment.
The focus of this plan is to provide a progressive, comprehensive and systematic
approach to reducing risk exposures. Risk management activities involve the
identification, investigation, analysis and evaluation of risk, followed by the selection and
implementation of the most appropriate methods for correcting, managing, reducing,
eliminating and/or transferring them. This way, the entire facility will be transformed into
a safe and suitable environment for all those within and around it.
Goals of the plan
The general goals of the risk management plan is the enhancement of the general safety
and sustainability of the organization. This is broken down into specific goals that will
guide the implementation of the quality control. These are:
Enhancement of the patient satisfaction.
Reduction of the severity and frequency of adverse events.
Support of a lenient and a harsh-less culture that creates awareness and
strengthens employees to identify and address risk-related issues.
Promote the quality of patient care in partnership with quality and performance
improvement activities.
Enhancement of patient safety through the incorporation of the National Patient
Safety Goals, patient safety initiatives and the Organizational Safety Strategies.
Utilization of risk critical risk management strategies in identifying and
minimizing the frequency and severity of risk incidences, claims, and near misses.
Education and empowerment of stakeholders on known and emerging risk
exposures as well as risk education processes.
Achievement of all requirements instituted by the accrediting and oversight
agencies.
Compliance with the predetermined state-specific scope of practice, regulations
and standards alongside the applicable laws.
These goals serve as a guiding factor in the establishment and the accomplishment of
a risk-free facility in which different stakeholders have their safety recognized and
emphasized on. This way, the organization will be sustainable and equally efficient.
