Introduction
Decision making can be described as the means of deciding on a course of action after
having several alternatives or options to choose from. Many managers of organizations are
usually able to learn about ethical decision making; however, they usually do not know how to
apply it in their workplace. The practice of ethical decision making is not common among most
managers mainly because they tend to avoid making decisions through ethical words and
consider ethics to be intuitive where one can give correct responses without being consciously
aware. However, managers should know that it is essential to understand how moral
development and ethical theory have an impact on the ethical decision making of their
employees.
Ethical tradition that describes Bill’s decision
Ethical behavior of a person or organization is usually related to three ethical traditions
that tend to impact the decision of the person or organization. The three ethical traditions which
usually include action, which concentrates on what one is doing, agent, which concentrates on
one’s character and outcome, which concentrates on the results of a decision that was made.
Among the three ethical decisions that relate to ethical behavior, the ethical tradition that can be
said to best describe Bill’s decision to pay the client from his own funds is agent, which is the
second ethical tradition (Shapiro & Stefkovich, 2016).
Ethical tradition usually has two beliefs that an individual who has good character will
always act in a way that is right and ethical, and that also to be able to keep relationships one has
to be able to follow rules. Though Bill knew it would be difficult and hard for him to be able to
pay the client, he still promised to pay him an amount that was more than what he earned every
