Role Of Peer And Self-Assessment In Assessment Process 2
ROLE OF PEER AND SELF-ASSESSMENT IN ASSESSMENT PROCESS
Introduction
There has been an urge for students to be part of the assessment process. It has been fruitful
to use peer assessment whereby the students in a class setting are able to assess themselves and
give their feedback based on how they figure out things. This therefore shifts from the teacher’s
view of judgment to the learners’ view. Self assessment is where the students’ judge their own
work alongside given standards or set goals.
Peer assessment can therefore involve verbal feedback, anonymous written feedback and
also effective group discussions. I would be in the forefront to ensure the effectiveness of peer

and standards. The students are then able to write anonymous feedback that I would be able to use
in knowing the progress of the students. I would then collect the papers and give back to the rightful
