1. Review the 5.1 Devotional and Scripture reading.
2. Relate the story of Jethro and Moses and those reorganized to serve Moses to your own
experience by sharing to whom you have turned to find help in strengthening your own
leadership capabilities?
3. Identify the leadership lessons that can be learned from the Scripture reading and how these
might be incorporated in the workplace.
4. Provide a detailed post that demonstrates clear, insightful critical thinking. Your initial posting should be 200-300

The transformational leadership is the one which is not only able to develop a
compelling vision for the organization but is able to link all functions, teams and individuals
with this vision (Wang, H., Law, K. S., Hackett, R. D., Wang, D., & Chen, Z. X. 2005). This
alignment is crucial. I have personally experienced the positive impact on the performance of
all my team members when we were being lead by a transformational leader. She was able to
show us the big picture and the manner in which our role fits into the picture. We never felt
that the organization and the team were moving in opposite directions. She clearly knew that
she could make us all rise above our individual selfish interests and she was able to do this
through her transformational leadership style. The implication for the Human Resource
Department is to ensure that candidates in senior positions are recruited or promoted by
identifying if they can be transformational leaders. Specific traits have to be developed if they
are not originally present.
The first leadership lesson to learn from the scripture is that a leader needs to walk the
talk in order to develop trust among the followers (mcalone, N. 2016). The immoral acts of
Moses prevent him from having followers. The second leadership lesson is to have the guts
to accept that a leader is not a good and that he/she can also make mistakes. Take external
help is not a bad idea. The third lesson is to develop good listening skills as a leader. A leader
must be able to listen to all the problems and complaints as effectively as possible.
