Introduction
The media has metamorphosed from its traditional role of informing the people to an
injector ideologies and norms that are forming the core of their values and perception. Since its
invention television had served as the connection between media practitioners and the various
audiences either locally or internationally. Media professionals from different genres have relied
on the television to beam their messages to millions of viewers in their homes. Meanwhile,
television shows of various types are valued not only for their entertainment value but their
capacity to shape the perspective of their fans. The agenda of the producer and directors of the
dramas, sitcom, and thrillers is simply to highlight the opinion about societal issues including the
political and economic ones. While most of these entertainment and educative shows are usually
created for adult audiences, the needs of the young ones have never been overlooked. Saturday
mornings and early evenings are filled with family entertainment shows that reflect several
aspects of the lifestyle of Americans. Therefore, it is common to see television shows that cater
for every member of the family including teenagers. While the reason for the media networks
that air these programs might include the establishment of connection with a particular
demographics and the promotion of economic agenda regarding advertising, their portrayal of a
teenager is the same as the stereotypes that exist in our society. What we see include the
challenges of high school, dating, teen pregnancy, drug abuse, sexual freedom, and social
rebellion among others. In rare cases, the entertainment shows for teenagers illustrate their role
in the larger context of social develop. Meanwhile, a question that most observers of
contemporary televisions are whether people are content with the content of television shows?
