Describing the literature and study
The purpose of describing the literature and the study of this RRL is to find the
information and talk about the information and the findings on the topics in the review of
the related literature. In this study there are various sub topics that has the key concepts
about the reviewed literature. The discussions on the sub headings gives the full
information about the study.
Identify the key concepts of the literature reviewed
The key concepts of this study are represented in different paragraphs on the RRL.
They include the following; Teaching reading, reading strategies, reading habits,
parental involvement in the reading and coaching activities, modular distance learning
and monitoring, evaluation and giving feedback to the leaners.

This is to compare and contrast the major concepts of the RRL collected and the
present study.
Teaching reading
The ability to read has been described in several ways according to different scholars.
While Morris (2016) describes it as a cognitive activity which involves comprehension of
a visible and a textual material, other scholars like Hiebert (2018) insist that phonemic

awareness is one of the essential components of a healthy foundation for reading
development. Depending on how they describe readability and its components, the
scholars have also come up with different techniques of teaching reading. Scholars
Morris (2016) came up with different techniques including direct instruction, thinking
aloud activities, modelling, discussion, and small group assistance and Hilbert (2018)
believes that teaching reading requires the teacher to teach phonemes to young
readers as it helps them learn sound and pronunciation when they are younger. Other
scholars like Rochmans (2018), Keene (2019), and Antoni (2017) put an emphasis on
the most important aspect in teaching reading as the comprehension processes
acknowledging how the current approaches devalue the importance of the
comprehension process in teaching reading.
Reading strategies
When teaching reading, teachers have to come up with the most appropriate reading
strategies they can use to enhance their students’ readability. It is an important aspect
that also has different methods and approaches according to different studies by
scholars. Although Kadir (2018) focuses on the significance of reading strategies,
reading skills, and metacognitive skills and strategies stressing on how important it is for
teachers to use such strategies when teaching in order to develop their students into
critical thinkers, Mader (2018) has focused on the resding strategy called Paired
Reading which he defines as a reading method that is used when students are
separated into pairs and read aloud to one another or takes turns in reading. Mader
(2018) insists that this method of reading is beneficial to students at different levels for
