1. List at least two objectives of conducting a PEST analysis?
The two objectives of conducting PEST analysis are:
1) Provide an understanding to decision makers about the changes that may be occurring
within a certain market. However, these can interfere with marketing and connection that
a firm has tried its level best to come up with.
2) It allows you to be focused on the future and notifying potential barriers clearly early in
advance in order to plan for and avoid them.
2. How does a PEST differ from Porter's analysis?
There various reasons that mostly makes PEST analysis differ from porter’s analysis, these are
pest analysis is considered by the company which wants to carry out market research on their
products while porter’s analysis is formed to inspect competition in the market and how it
connects to their profits (Ho, 2014).
Another difference between PEST analysis and PORTER'S five forces analysis is that porters
five forces analysis are concerned with factors that influence company’s success; these factors
include suppliers, current competition, customers and how competitors can enter the market
while on the other side PEST analysis they are more concern with factors taking place in a
country or market zone and carrying out how consumers are affected by this factors. An example
of this is that a leader who is using PEST analysis mostly may work toward the social aspects of
the firms consumer. However, consumer’s decision can be affected by various things such as
new political strife, government funding, and government policy changes.
