Despite the fact that there is a lot of literature regarding health care and clinical ethics, it
is equally important to note that considerably less information exists on administrative and
organizational ethics of health care. Actually, this condition is particularly important to identify
during periods of organization restructuring, most cases what may be perceived as being
appropriate for health care business, may be unethical, hence bringing about medical
malpractices. Unethical operations in the health care sector can be spotted and corrected through
robust, yet careful analysis of a given organization culture or way of doing things. Moreover,
upon completion of the analysis, the organization can thereafter concentrate on developing a
robust ethics infrastructure that cuts through all aspects and functions of the organization or
company. In this paper, we are going to study a true scenario where a medical practitioner
managed to change the tainted image of a particular organization into one with good reputation
through the establishment of good ethics infrastructure. At the end we are going to delve on the
implications for healthcare including any benefits or shortcomings of the ethics infrastructure.
INTRODUCTION
According to a famous sociology scholar, he once stated that good ethics is appropriate
for business. However, the stellar scholar does not fail to mention the fact that ethics gap exist in
many organizations or institutions. An ethics gap refers to the difference of what people perceive
to be morally right against what is favorable for the business. Nonetheless, in the modern days, a
lot of things are often regarded as ethical, without following any rules or procedures whatsoever.
Conversely, health care organizations or business, which is a huge part of global economy, are
not free from the ethics gap phenomenon. Actually, they are deeply affected by this
phenomenon, mainly due to the restructuring in health care sector over the previous decades. The
restructuring in some way has conformed to the management care. Some of the contentious

ethical practices dominant in health care include; lack of full disclosure, gag rules, and
compensation plans regarding incentive and rewards of employees.
These practices overlook ethics for legal profits and technicalities. Additionally, we have
issues regarding political ethical conflicts where politics and ethics do not associate with the
ethics gap. Little information about administrative and organizational ethics has surfaced in
health care literature, in spite of public and professional concerns. Nonetheless, to enhance filling
of this gap, we are going to discuss the significance of the cultural practices of the organization
on morality, as well as developing an ethics infrastructure. Thereafter, I will delve on
administrative ethical issues and finish up with its effects on health care. (Bucaro, 1998)
Organizational ethics and culture
Research studies have it that health care organizational ethics are a bit greater than the
traditional clinical ethics. On the other hand, in a situation where organization stakeholders want
to improve the operations of the organization, because of imposition of leadership dedicated to
sophisticated ethical principles, or training and education of its members in moral principles, the
components of the current culture of the organization ought to be dealt with directly to enhance
positive effects. Ideally, overlooking the organizational culture on the verge of re-evaluating the
organization’s values is same as trying to overlook causes while treating the symptoms.
Moreover, the ethical values are not only vital to organization’s culture, but also
beneficial to the overall organizational performance. Actually, this approach is more of group
oriented than individual, whereby all members of an organization, including the public or
customers they serve, should share similar beliefs and values.
