A1. Discuss how ALL of the following aspects from the scenario affect the
company’s decision-making process
1. Company culture
a. Since The Company’s culture is centered around innovation, that has
influenced their decision making process in various areas. It propelled
them to create an incentive program to promote new ideas amongst
employees. Additionally, they invite in other designers from across
industries to better their designs.
2. Organizational structure
a. The Company has decentralized their organizational structure which
effectively has the founders and employees being considered equals.
This structure determines that all company decisions are considered by
all employees, not just at an executive level. Having a decentralized
structure also enables all employees to have decision making abilities,
collaboration processes, and promotes relationship building across
departments and employee titles.
3. Mission and vision statements (as they affect the strategic direction)
a. Given that both the Mission and Vision statements are centered around
innovation and sustainability, this has determined their decisions on the
direction of their company culture, organizational structure, and product
designs. The most popular fishing boat design is foldable, compact for
easy carrying, and completely recyclable. Designs like these set the
example of innovative, and completely sustainable.
A2. Describe how the company’s culture could affect the market entry
strategy. (Furthermore, what type of culture is the company? Use the
Competing Values Framework to explain your answer.) One explanation
will suffice.
1. The Company’s culture is defined as innovation and creativity which will force their
market entry strategy to be slow and concise. The Company would be defined as a
“Create (Adhoracy)”, meaning that they are focused on innovation. They want to first
create their product using all available resources prior to entering the market. They
believe that their product’s innovative elements, like being foldable and recyclable, will
allow them a significant piece of the market that is already established, however, not
using the elements they are attempting.
