US Withdrawal from Afghanistan 2021
Introduction
The USA government withdrew from the 20 year-long war in Afghanistan after the
Taliban. The allies took nearly total control of the country as the president flew from the
presidential palace and descended into chaos. The Taliban government drafted names of the
cabinet, which represented some regions while some were not included in the government.
The Afghan government's collapse was a crushing and violent coda to USA military forces as
they invested billions in sustaining the Afghanistan security forces. Additionally, China and
Pakistan are the states that supported the Taliban in the war against the Afghans. They
supplied them with appropriate equipment for the war since both countries experienced
economic gains from Afghanistan.
US- Afghanistan Mission
Following the attack of the US by Al Qaeda, George Bush directed the US military to
launch attacks on terrorist groups and Taliban targets in Afghanistan. Taliban, who
administrated most of Afghanistan, repudiated Mr. Bush's offer to turn in the Al Qaeda
terrorists who planned attacks from Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden and other top
commanders flew to Pakistan, which became a haven for the Taliban and later organized to
attack the American army from Pakistan (Thomas, 2018). Nevertheless, the US government
conducted a ground operation and built schools, medical facilities, and public facilities for the
Afghanistan nationals and endorsed a constitution that allowed Afghanistan to conduct its
first democratic election on 9
th
October 2004.
The figure below illustrates Afghans in 2004 participating in a democratic election
process.
