Title; Dissociative Identity Disorder as Illustrated in the Film ‘Fight Club’
I. Introduction
A. Introductory Statement: Fight Club is a film that discusses the activities of a
narrator who is not only suffering from insomnia but cannot maintain healthy
relationships with other people. The narrators mental health is a cause for
concern as it affects his relationship with those around him, mainly because his
condition worsens throughout the film.
B. Thesis Statement: The following essay will discuss some of the symptoms,
causes, lifestyle impacts, and treatment options related to dissociative identity
disorder concerning the Fight Club Film.
II. Body
A. Summarize the Film: Fight Club is about a character who has a condition known
as dissociative identity disorder. The film starts when the narrator visits the
doctor, who then recommends him to a mens support group to help him deal with
his condition. It majorly involves lack of sleep, extreme hallucinations, and
inability to relate amicably with other people.
1. During one of the sessions at the support group, the narrator meets Marla,
another character suffering from severe insomnia, and they become good
friends.
2. Later in the film, the narrator meets Tyler Durden in a plane, where they are
acquainted. This friendship grows to an extent where they start living together
after the narrator’s house got destroyed. To live together, the two friends have
