Crowdsourcing
The term crowdsourcing is a current term that was first coined in June 2006 by Jeff Howe
and Mack Robinson in an article. The present definition of crowdsourcing is that put forward by
Jeff Howe who defined it as the item of the company giving the task to be performed by
unknown network of people in online (Howe, 2006b). Thereafter other provision to
crowdsourcing was added by Howe who said that outsourcing entails some forms of giving to a
group of crowd workers to perform a certain task. Initial crowdsourcing task includes computing
activities such as writing some software codes or removing errors from certain program. Many
computing task are being carried out today in crowdsourcing websites especially in business
sectors.
The development of crowdsourcing in design started with the invention of internet
services. As businesses develop and become more complex it requires extra labor and resource to
ensure that all the process in the company are done in a smooth way. Traditional methods of
where complex task was assigned to an individual to perform the task did not work. Companies
did not get enough profits due to poor services that were entirely depended on an expert in the
company.
Customers were not well satisfied due to long time that they had to wait to get their
needs to be done. Due to this, there was a need to come up with a platform that uses the world
crowd to provide their skills and ideas to the companies in order to improve the efficiency and
production in the companies this plat form was coined as crowdsourcing.
Crowdsourcing is the process whereby an individual or organization can get funds or
work online from other people. Companies now depend on the online communities to provide
