The only way to determine the value of alpha is to use an unknown value say x determine
the alpha value
(295*x)+275*(1-x) = 275
295x + 275-275x =275
20x = 0
X = 0/20
X= 0
For the forecast demand to be equal to 275, the alpha value has to be zero.
However a smoothing constant of zero is not likely and we would thus presume that the
data provided is not sufficient to calculate a good value of alpha. In his case however, the
alpha value is zero for the forecast demand to be equal to the actual demand of 275.
