I totally agree with the first students example of a restaurant business as a true
illustration of the front and back stage concept. This is because people tend to act more
differently when there are expectations placed on them by the society and they frequently use
their knowledge to devise the best behavior and/or impression of themselves. Waiters usually
put forth their best presentation in front of clients as result of dramaturgy and this is often
rehearsed before meeting such clients. In most cases, such waiters are trained to enhance their
tools of impression management to be more appealing to prospective clients of business and
society.

It is true that we adapt to who we are; depending on the people that we are interacting
with a particular point in time. According to dramaturgy, it is true that we often manipulate
our image in society, and this is because, in the presence of a least one person, we usually
employ the tools of impression management to be more acceptable to others. However, in
absence of people, such false expressions are dropped and all guards are put off. It is also
worth noting that when we don’t have any company, we often utilize this time to practice
how we will act in front of people in order to be viewed in a positive way.
