Social Determinants of Health
Social determinants of health are factors that influence a diverse array of wellness,
functional, and wellbeing results and vulnerabilities in those contexts in which individuals are
conceived, reside, study, exercise, play, and age. Besides, improving health and decreasing
health inequalities necessitates addressing socioeconomic determinants of health. Despite the
fact that medical care is vital to one's wellbeing, it is an inadequate health determinant.
According to studies, inherent genetics, lifestyle habits, human and ecological variables, and
medical services influence healthcare outcomes ("Social Determinants of Health - Healthy
People 2030 | health.gov", 2021). While there is presently no clarity in the study on the extent to
which each of these elements makes a relative impact on health, researchers demonstrate that
health behaviors, such as tobacco consumption, nutrition, and workout, are the significant drivers
of health outcomes, and that socioeconomic circumstances can shape people's health status.
I choose mental health as a public health care topic that interests me. The following are
the social determinants of mental health: stereotyping and social ostracism; adverse early
childhood encounters; inadequate academic achievement, inferior schooling, and learning
inequalities; unemployment, income inequity, and community impoverishment; malnutrition;
economic stagnation, lack of job opportunities, and rising unemployment; substandard dwelling
and habitation conditions; and global warming. In addition, other determinants include the
availability of conveyance, exposure to war, brutality, conflict and coerced immigration, and
engagement with a system of unfair and inclusive criminal justice ("The social determinants of
mental health," 2021). Moreover, these social determinants of mental health frequently
contribute to behavioral tendencies that appear to exist on an individual scale, such as high-risk
conduct and seemingly bad decisions that can contribute to more significant risk variables for
