PATIENT PROTECTION AND AFFORDABLE CARE ACT 2
Abstract
The cardiovascular system is a system which moves nutrients, gasses and byproducts around the
body. The system has four main functions which include transporting the gasses, nutrient and
waste product in the body, defending the body from infection and preventing blood loss,
ensuring that the body maintains a constant temperature through a process called
thermoregulation and finally, the cardiovascular system maintains body fluid balance. All these
functions are essential for the normal functioning of the body. The cardiovascular structures
include the heart, the blood vessels, the blood, the Aorta, pulmonary valve, aortic valve and
Tricuspid valve and the Pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein, inferior vena cava and superior vena
cava. Each structure and function of the cardiovascular system make it a very important system
in the body, and without it, most of the body function would cease. This essay discusses the vital
roles played by the circulatory system in details. The circulatory system acts like a road network
in the body that links different body parts and transport various substances to different parts of
the body.
