Do global organizations have a problem with employee engagement?
Employee engagement is a two way communication between an organization and its
employees whose aim is to improve trust and motivation in the work place. Engaged employees
are usually motivated to improve their performance and contribute towards the success of the
business. With diversification of workforce globally, a great gap has grown between
management and employees due to cultural differences, increase in capitalism and skill shortage
which leads to lack of time to connect (Prof.M.S.Rao, 2010).
How human resource managers help improve employee
engagement?
Human resources managers are usually in the position to measure, nurture and increase
employee engagement. This can be achieved by using technology to create an employee survey.
The survey should not only focus on employees ticking a box for measuring the level of
engagement but should also be designed in a way that employees can suggest on how the
engagement can be improved. Most companies fail in their engagement review because they only
focus on measuring and not on improving (Annamarie Mann, 2017). The approaches suggested
by employees should be analyzed by the management and if they are practical, they should be
applied. The survey should not be approached as a way of defining the number of unsatisfied
employees. It should focus on defining the percentage that is enthusiastic about their work which
should be the basis for trainings.
