Measurement one 2
Introduction
Measurement is where a number or a value is assigned to an object characteristics so that it can
be compared to another. In this experiment we are going to deal with the measurement of length
an time. In measurements there is some degree of uncertainty that come about from some
sources. A measured value should therefore contain the level of confidence associated with the
measured value. This is important because people can make judgments on the quality of the
experiment. It also allows for the comparison with similar values or the theoretical predictions.
Measurement can therefore be regarded as,

In taking measurements there are three things to consider about the measurement at the basic
level. These are, Accuracy of the measurement, precision of the measurement, and uncertainty of
the measurement. Accuracy is how close the measured value is to the accepted value. Precession
is the degree of inconsistency among independent measurements of the same quantity.
A series of trial in an experiment can be done and the average of the value obtained using the
formula.
