Title of Lesson: Invention in a bag
Grade Level and subject area: 6 grade Science
Lesson Objective: This activity will enhance the creativity of the learners as
well as develop their creativity, enhance communication and collaboration
among themselves, encourage use of information and technology and encourage
critical thinking in the exploration of related scientific and mathematical
concepts.
Lesson Summary:
The activity will encompass learning and integrating assigned readings to
redesign a course work material submitted earlier. In this case, the course work
submitted was a lesson plan. The redesign process will encompass making
modifications to the previously submitted lesson plan to ensure that it reflects on
the 21
st
century learning.
The activity will encompass supplying children with a bag full of materials. The
children will be required to use the materials in the bag to create something new.
Noteworthy, this assessment will be important to the students in that it will be
used to enhance their study of inventions and inventors, and recycling. The
assessment will be used will be used as a means of encouraging communication
and collaboration between students, studying descriptive language and using
information according to the set guidelines. In achieving the objectives
mentioned above, I will have the children organized into groups, whereby, each
group will create something new from the materials supplied in one bag.
Differentiation Process
Direct instructions:
All students will:
1. Required to form groups of five individuals
2. Collaboratively think and research from the internet to think about a
problem they can solve with their invention.
3. Write down their ideas, resources and questions.
4. Draw a plan and later draw a prototype of their desired innovation.
5. Research to find out three of the following:
What problem will the invented product address? Would the solution be
feasible?
Is there a possible market for the invented product? How does one get a
copyright?
(Modification) The learners will not work as sole individuals as portrayed in the
previous lesson plan. Instead, learners will work collaboratively as a group to
perform the specified task. It is believed that working as a group will reflect the
