There seems to be an unwritten rule in politics that whoever has the media at his whims will all
but surely win the elections. It is therefore a surprise that the current US elections have been
characterized by accusations and counter accusations of media bias in the coverage of the two
main presidential candidates. This therefore brings to fore the role of media and why it remains a
savage fight for the politicians to be on the right side of the media.
The media has surely an impact on the way people view various subjects affecting the society.
This paper is concerned with the presidential elections and the complaint by President Obama
accusing the media of irresponsibility and bias in its reporting of certain candidates form a strong
starting. The president was implying that the media lacks the guts to demand for accountability
before putting the information given by some candidates. He was attacking the workability of
some of the proposals being put forward by Donald Trump as the Republican presidential
candidate.
Donald Trump has been one of the most controversial presidential candidates that the modern
America has had to contend with. The candidate has invited more controversy than support
whenever he has been given a chance to speak. It would be ironical however to condemn a
candidate who underwent nominations and was given mandate by the citizens in being a
candidate for the Republican Party. So, it is a satirical situation in which people pretend not to
like a product of their own.
Which brings me to the question, who knows Donald Trump as a person? Who knows Donald
Trump as a family man? Who understands the struggles that Donald had to undergo before
finally breaking into the political limelight? Just how many of us can stand and say that we have
a in-depth understanding of the Republican candidate. This may be interpreted as irrelevant but
