The College Experience
The college experience is a wonderful thing that everyone should h=go through, assuming
they have the means to do so. It’s an extremely eye opening experience where one gets to meet
new people and learn new things. And on top of all that, you just get to have a fun time living
your life while youre still young. That’s because once college ends, the real world begins.
College kids are often viewed as extremely liberal in comparison to the test of the population.
This is because being in this new and foreign environment gives these students a new outlook on
life. Young college students tend sot be much less judgmental than other people that aren’t in
college, the fact that they’re all packed into the same town, living together amplifies these free
willed ideals.
College is the optimum time to meet all sorts of new friends. Between the new living
arrangements, usually in dorms, and the new classes, you meet so many new people in college.
At first, I went through lots of people. I tried to befriend everyone, but I soon realized that there
were certain people that were not the kind of people I wanted to be friends with. I was
successfully able to slowly cut them out before I was in too deep. Then I finally found a group
of friends I got on really well with. I lived in the dorms my first year and that’s where I found
my best friends. We all lived on the same hall, it started with me and my roommate boning then
expanded to include another from across the hall. Our group grew over time to a nice group of 6
friends. Since we all lived in such close proximity to one another, we all saw each other every
day, even if just for a few minutes. We spent pretty much every weekend hanging out or
watching movies. This constant interaction forged a very deep friendship among the six of us
very rapidly. Before I even knew it, I had five new best friends. Going home over breaks, even
for a weekend, was terrible. I was so used to seeing my friends constantly that when I went

home, not seeing them was almost foreign. My parents always got annoyed because I just
wanted to go back to school to see my friends. But that was one of the beautiful things about
college. I made these new amazing friends in this beautiful experience, and I wouldn’t trade it
for anything.
College is the optimum time to finally figure out what youre passionate about if you don’t
already know what it is. When I applied to college, I had absolutely no clue what I wanted to do.
I knew I really liked police procedural shows and doing that kind of work would be fun so I just
marked Criminology on my application and sent it in. I didn’t really know if that’s what I
wanted to do. In high school I took the classes I had to take, I didn’t get to take the subjects I
was interested in. I got to take art, but that’s the extent of my exploration. It wasn’t until my
first semester at college where I got to take a sociology course where I discovered that I
absolutely love sociology. Ive taken multiple criminology and sociology courses since then and
I absolutely love all of them. Ive finally figured lot what I’m passionate about. I can now finally
tell people what I want to do with my life after college. When people ask me now, I can
definitively say that I want to work for a federal law enforcement agency. And then I tell people
that, I feel it inside, that that’s what I want to do with my life.
Finally figuring out what I want to do with my live has opened up a whole new world of
opportunities for me in college. Next semester I get to participate in a student police academy
with the campus police force, and I am so excited. I get to have a real, hands on experience
doing what I want to do for the rest of my life. I’ll get to drive a squad car and play with the
police dogs which is all very exciting, but it pales in comparison to the parts I’m really excited
for. We get to examine mock crime scenes and profile serial killers, I want to solve crimes,
catch these bad guys. This is my first actual hands on experience in what I want to do, itll be
